RFBS have completed the final stage in the upgrade of Prouds Jewellers order picking solution - PickIT, using the Motorola MT2000 mobile computer.

RFBS assisted Prouds to transition from paper picking to scanning in 2003, implementing a narrow-band RF solution in the Summer Hill distribution centre. The
solution endured 10 Christmas periods - handling over 100 concurrent users and 60,000 individual items per day at peak times.

In 2014, Prouds again turned to RFBS to recommend a new solution which could grow with them into the future.

RFBS evaluated scanners from a number of different manufacturers against a set of ergonomic criteria, eventually settling on the MT2000 device based on:

                            - Weight. At just 378g, the MT2000 is very light-weight and suitable for office-based used.
- Form Factor. A pistol grip form-factor reduces strain on the wrist in high-volume scanning operations.
- Scanner. The laser engine easily reads the high-density bacodes on jewellery.
- Application support. The MT2000 is supported by Wavelink Avalanche, which is used to manage a fleet of 130 devices across 3 warehouses.
RFBS re-implement the picking application for the MT2000, which was able to run in parallel with the original system - reducing business risk at
a crucial time of year. The solution exceeded expectations over the busy Christmas 2014 period, with record sales driving massive replenishment
orders through the warehouse each morning.
